Characters

The cell

The self: The character you play as. Has amnesia, doesn’t know what his name is or why he’s locked up in a prison cell. Sometimes disappears into a fantasy world, and gets blurry memories afterwards. The only person he can talk with in the cell is the prison guard.

The prison guard: You never find out his name. Doesn’t want to talk to the protagonist at first, but gradually becomes more friendly, though the two often argue with each other. Knows why the Self is locked up, but doesn’t want to tell him.

Marisja: The Self’s wife, who writes a letter to him, and shows up in his blurry memories.

Krystjof: A young boy who also appears in the memories of the Self.

The imagination

The cosmonauts: Your perspective in the fantasy world. Three guys in spacesuits who have been educated at the space center Kosmopolska. They sometimes disagree with each other, but they’re all enthusiastic about travelling to other planets and exploring space.

Dr. Gargarin: The headmaster of education at Kosmopolska, who describes the structure of the education. His voice is also heard during the sequences where you’re constructing spaceships. Probably named after the Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.

Sergej Bubka: TV reporter who interviews Dr. Gargarin during the construction of Kosmopolska, and asks him if the construction is a waste of tax money. Later on also reports from the yearly May parade at the space center. Probably named after the Ukrainian pole vaulter Sergey Bubka.

The receptionist: Works at the reception at Kosmopolska, and gives various comments while you’re deciding where to go. Seems very uninterested in the space race, and just thinks it’s silly.

Piotr Bober: Former fighter pilot at the Polish air force, with many medals. Is now the instructor for space navigation at Kosmopolska. Very straightforward.

Greger Walewska: Instruktor for multitasking at Kosmopolska, which is ironic considering that he himself is extremely confused.

Slydia Straka: The very strict teacher in manners and etiquette at Kosmopolska. Speaks very clearly, and wants there to quiet in her classroom.

Grazyna Konwicki: ”Balltorp pedagogue” and teacher in extraterrestrial languages at Kosmopolska. Very soft and kind, and very spiritual and weird. Says that she also has courses in new-Norwegian tai chi, ecological healing and spiritual development.

The Nomenclature: The leader of Poland, who the cosmonauts must ask for money for the construction of a satellite. Weak to flattery. His hobbies include dancing ballet in a pink skirt.

Mike Bruce: Australian astornaut, speaks Swedish with an English accent. Friendly and relaxed, likes to drink beer and brag about how experienced he is at space travel.

The Pope: Another influential leader who the cosmonauts must flatter to get money for a spaceship. A pretty cheerful man who likes food and wine. Is an old classmate of Dr. Gargarin.

The Cardinal: The Pope’s closest advisor. An angry person who doesn’t like the cosmonauts, but who obeys what the Pope tells him.

French astronaut: A very unpleasant Frenchwoman who yells insults in Swedish with a French accent through her megaphone. She does seem to know a little about things that exist far out in space.
